I am stunned and sorry to hear of Jeff's passage and wish you all the best.
Jeff & I worked on HAL's Internet project from the literal scratchpad and were barely able to get a 1200 baud modem for the project.
Jeff was a fantastic guy, a brilliant computer person and one of the few I have found that would follow his curiosity until he had real answers.
Again, best wishes.

Ann, I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of Jeff. I haven't been around HAL for a few years but I stopped by a couple of months ago and specifically asked about you and Jeff. I'm not sure if you remember me but I'll never forget either one of you and how special you guys were. I learned so much from you and Jeff and always felt that I owed him a debt of gratitude. He was a special person. Stay strong.

I want to say something to express my feelings but what can I say? Jeff and Anne were/are both very intelligent, dedicated, and enthusiastic about what they were doing. The world could definitely use more like that. During my brief time with Jeff I felt comfortable. I knew where I stood. There was no façade with Jeff. 49 is too young. Anne, I’m very sorry for your lose.

Jeff, you were always the most reliable and helpful person, regarding the work you did.. I will especially remember you for helping a competitor Road Runner and teaching them how to set up revers look-up for their newsgroups.

The electrons were cast in the following manner - Jeff Hupp: logician, programmer, computer guru extraordinaire, newsgroup mediator, HALNet core member, mentor, a man with a unique and creative mind. His programs, critiques, and deeds are extensions of his mind and spirit that will influence those who knew him for the rest of our lives. He is not gone but has upgraded to the ultimate OS.

Brilliance and indefatigability were two of Jeff's greatest assets. As a network administrator he was nonpareil. We owe him a great debt and without his efforts we would not be where we are today at his organization--HAL-PC. I will miss Jeff and his ease of getting to heart of a problem in the most direct manner and with little fanfare. RIP Jeff!

My sympathy to Jeff's family & his dear friends. I will miss this outgoing, energetic man. Even though he was brilliant, he was no nerd. Even a novice could come away from a conversation with him, either in person or via phone, knowing exactly what he said. His life made the world a better place. His influence will not fade.

I am greatly saddened by Jeff's death, and extend my compassion to his family and his friends. He is sorely missed by so many: such pithy, helpful and just plain good people as he are uncommon.
My deepest sympathies -

Jeff will never be forgotten. It was always clear that he was the best thing that ever happened to Anne, her girls and grandchildren. Jeff was a good man and I'm proud that he was part of our family.

Dear Jeff,
I told you while you were here, and I will tell you again....thank you. Thank you for being there for me when I have needed you. Thank you for taking such good care of my mother, and more than that for loving her so much, as she loved you. Thank you for taking such an interest in our lives and what was important to us. Thank you for letting us love you, and being such a huge, wonderful part of our family. Thank you for making Fathers Day mean something to me. Before you came along it was a holiday I never celebrated. Thank you for being a Father any daughter would be proud to call Dad. We miss you already so much. There is a void in our lives that will remain forever. The only solace that I find comforting is the fact that we got to know you at all. What a gift.
I Love You,
Stacy

Jeff was a great friend, as well as a most loved part of our family. We will be forever grateful for the love and happiness he brought Anne and the family he so willingly adopted as his own. Words cannot express how much we love him and how deeply we will miss him.

Jeff was the first person I met at HAL-pc when I was considering becoming a member. Without ever telling me who he was, he took me right in to the network equipment room and showed it all to me, telling me what was there, what it did, how it worked and what was being done to improve the network. It was so facinating to see someone who loved his work as much as he did. I joined immediately. Jeff will be missed

My sincere condolences to Jeff's family and loved ones.
What I will remember most about Jeff is his cleverness and wit.
If you weren't paying close attention you might have overlooked Jeff's very amusing dry wit.
We will miss Jeff and are thankful for his contributions to HAL-PC and HALNet.

Jeff was my lover and my best friend. He was a father to my children and a grandfather to the grandchildren. There is no way to convey how much he meant to us or how much he was an integral part of our lives. As I walk through the house there are things I want to tell him, things I want his advice on, things I don't want to discuss with anyone else and there is so much sorrow that he is gone.
I know that many who read this are missing him too. Jeff was brilliant and perceptive.
If you were someone that could confide in Jeff, you have lost a dear friend and source of comfort.
If you were someone who could work with Jeff you have lost a brilliant mind and a person that you could count on when you had a problem with your system or your network.
I want you all to know these things. Jeff was not sick before August 21st, 2006. He was up at HAL-PC on September 2nd, 2006. He was able to enjoy at least part of the day on September 5th, 2006. He was able to get out of bed under his own power even on September 18th, 2006. I was holding his hand when he passed away on September 19th, 2006.
While this is only small comfort, it is all that I have to offer those who will miss him, and I leave these words here, for you.

I opened hal-pc main page on the internet yesterday and with great sorrow noticed, I know this guy! Jeff helped me quite a few times while I was volunteering with HAL. It is a sad loss for HAL and for the rest of us...

Such a great and sorrowful loss. My condolensces to his family and friends. I, and I know others, will miss him greatly. He made me learn more about the Internet, PC's (even with MS software), and HALNET connectivity than I could have ever learned on my own. The world's average IQ is reduced by his absence.

Jeff's support over the years, especially back in the day, helped me get to my current level of knowledge and skill with and about computers.
He was also someone who was a good friend.
Rest in peace, old friend.

My sincere condolences to Jeff's family. Jeff's work touched thousands of lives. Jeff was one of the original members of the HALNet Internet Services staff - without his vision there would have been no HALNet, and without his dedication through the years, it could not have grown and flourished. He was a valued friend and collegue who could always be counted on to provide support and encouragement whenever it was needed. We will miss him more than we can say.

Condolensces
to Mr. Hupp's family. HAL-PC has been an integral part of my daily life
and communications for over 10 years and I know his work to have been meaningful
to me, though we never met, other than through telephone 'support' sessions.
He will be long remembered and his work remains in our lives.
