Richard Stoddard Obituary

Dick died in his home on April 5, 2009 due to complications from a stroke he suffered in Aug of 2008. He was born Nov. 24, 1930 in Shelley, Id. to Wilford David Stoddard and Mary Emily Rainsdon. At 17 he joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1950. A few years later he married the love of his life Alice Denton. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple a few years later. He moved his family to Kuna, Id. in 1972 where they have resided since. They have three wonderful children, six grand children,and six great-grand children with one on the way. Dick's family all enjoyed the time, love, and wisdom they always found at Papa's house. Dick spent 54 years building up a roofing business, R. M. Stoddard Roofing. He was roofing up until the day of his stroke. His work on the many historical houses of Old Boise including: Ronald McDonald house, The Bishop's House and the V.A. hospital, Annabelle's unique roof, Temple Beth Israel, and the Boise and Dallas L.D.S. Temples are some examples of his excellent craftsmanship. They will serve as a lasting memorial to him and his dedication to perfection. Dick is survived by his wife Alice, his children; Mary, Curtis (Angela), Richard II, grandchildren; Maggie (Heiko) , Sariah, Andrew (Melissa), Joseph, Alexandra, Nathan, great-grandchildren; Richard "Nash", Lilia, Cassie, Maliky, Raiden, Lauren and a baby due in August, as well as his sister Maxine and her husband Keith. His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Kuna 13th Ward LDS chapel , 224 E. Avalon St. in Kuna . A viewing will be at 1 p.m. at the chapel prior to the services. Internent will follow at the Kuna Memorial Cemetary. Arrangements are being provided by the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300
