Ingrid Wilhite Obituary

Ingrid Joy Wilhite Ingrid Joy Wilhite, born May 4, 1959, in Boise, Idaho, passed away suddenly at Alta Bates Hospital, Berkeley, Calif. on Jan. 15, 2008 of complications from a Glioblastoma brain tumor diagnosed only three weeks before. She leaves behind a large and much beloved family and many friends in the Boise area, as well as a large and creative chosen family of friends and filmmaking peers, associates and clients in the San Francisco Bay area. She was cherished and cared for in her final moments by her life partner, Sauni Symonds, also from Idaho, and Ingrid's best friend of 25 years, Nicole Grimmer, of Germany and her partner, Denise Dupree. Ingrid is preceded in death by her father George Wilhite. She leaves behind and will be missed greatly by her mother, Wilma Wilhite, who lives in Kuna, her Aunt and Uncle Donna and Richard "Dick" Coonse, as well as her four brothers: Wesley, Thomas, Martin, and Ralph and his spouse Evana. She was a terrific light and inspiration in the lives of her nieces, nephews, cousins and second cousins: Wilhite: Michelle and David Hays, Abijah, Taylor, Paul, Alexis and Raymond Lawlis, Jena, George and Presley, Nichole, Ashley, Donna and Mariah, Lynda, Gengly, Wendy, Wes Jr. Coonse: Mona, April, Billy Joe, Wade and Rhonda, Kayla. Manzer: Kathy and Warren, Alicia and Laura. Ax: Robert and JoAnn. Ingrid attended Indian Creek Grade School, as well as High School in Kuna, and graduated from Rutgers University in 1982 with a B.A. in Communications. After graduation she moved to San Francisco where she started working initially as an audio/video technician and then as a video editor for an advertising agency. In an extremely competitive business, she ultimately proceeded to establish herself as a very successful and sought-after independent video editor, liked and admired for her creativity as well as her professionalism and dedication to her clients, winning industry awards for several of her projects. Ingrid was a multi-facetted and talented woman: a filmmaker of Women's Film, winning awards for many of her Shorts, an accomplished accordionist who performed publically at times, a woman who loved film, books, music, and the arts, as well as skiing, hiking, and biking. She travelled all over the world, even lived in Germany for 10 months, but ultimately she always wanted to retire near her family in Idaho. She also leaves behind a grieving cat family, including Ignatius Robert "Iggy-Bob", Minnie Pearl, Diva and Mojo; her god-cats: White Boy and Tabeasta, in addition to many other 9-lived recipients of her love, donations and volunteer work at the SFSPCA and the Feral Cat foundation of Santa Rosa. In keeping with her spirit, and in lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be sent in her name to the Boise SPCA or the National Brain Tumor Foundation. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Boise First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2201 Woodlawn Ave. Refreshments will follow the service.

I met Ingrid at Ketchum Advertising around 1988 when Augusten Burroughs and I were a Junior Art Director/Copywriter team. It was my first real ad job and Ingrid was one of the funniest people I met there. I still have a goofy clay duck that she made for me wearing a santa cap. It's been sitting under my computer monitor for 20 years now. I've thought about her over the years and had even googled her to try to find a contact number so we could reconnect and catch up.
I can't believe I won't see her now. I hope she's at peace—no doubt she's already shaking things up and putting smiles on those lucky others faces who get to be with her now.

I'll cherish my duck even more now Ingrid.

xoxo Lona

p.s. I don't remember your middle name being Joy too. Now my middle name will remind me of you and all the joy you brought to everyone.

I met Ingrid in the early 1990's in San Francisco. At first we were simply co-workers, but it was inevitable that we would become friends. How could you not with her? She was a fun-loving, mid-western slang slingin', creative and talented gal. I also had the honor of working on a few video projects with her. She was professional and meticulous. I miss her dearly, but I know that I am a better person from having known her.

Peace Ingrid.

Love,
sal

For Ingrid and her partner of many years:

Hallo, und leibe grusse, are coming to you from me, today.

My mother called today and shared about Ingrid's passing.

I grew up with Ingrid (she was one of my close friends, many moons ago). While living on her family farm (as i did i), i remember her for playing the accordian, the piano and many other things among her repertoire of talents.

I always wondered what became of Ingrid, all those many years ago; and was happy to learn that Rutgers University was her alma mater. I'm also fascinated with her short tenure in Germany: Where my sweetheart lives in Berlin. Someday, i'll know the grandeur and beauty that Germany holds for so many of us, that long to experience the romance of that country.

From my heart to Ingrid's beloved,

Dawn

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Ingrid's Mother, Brothers, Sauni, Nicole and Ingrid's extended family. What a beautiful tribute in the Idaho Statesman - truly - Ingrid created a remarkable life for herself and loved many kitties along the way! It is difficult to understand why such a tragedy occurs and such a beautiful woman's life is cut short - but please know I am praying that your hearts and minds are filled with peace and comfort in knowing that Ingrid's suffering on this earth is over and that her spirit lives forever.

Although I didn't really know Ingrid I've heard many stories about her short life. Abijah spoke highly of her and told us many stories during her vistits to Kuna. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. I'm sure Ingrid's wraped in Grandpa's arms at this very moment watching over all of you.
