MILES, Texas - Thomas William Hyde, 72, of Miles began his Heavenly flight on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
Family visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home, San Angelo, Texas.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles, Texas with Rev. Diane Terrazas officiating.
Burial will follow at Miles Cemetery with military honors.
Tom was born on Jan. 28, 1936 in Kannapolis, to James William and Willie Mae (Dobbins) Hyde.
Tom spent four years in the United States Air Force cadet program.
He married Ruth Kriegel on Sept. 21, 1957, living in Miami, Florida for six years.
While there he worked as a dispatcher for National Airlines. In 1962 they moved back to Texas, when Tom began work as a Farm Bureau Insurance Agent. After four years he went to work at the Wall Co-op Gin. Several years later he went to work at Mathis Field for Rio Airways and Atlantic Southeast Airlines until his retirement.
Tom's hobbies were flying his Cessna 140, reading, listening to Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, spending time with his three grandsons and his latest venture of surfing the internet for games. One of his favorite past times was telling stories or jokes to anyone who would listen.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry Wayne Hyde; sister-in-law, Betsy Hyde and nephew, Derek Hyde.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Charlene Hyde of Miles, Texas; daughters, Tracy Mae Wilson and husband, Andy of Killeen, Texas and Ginger Fae Hurst and husband, Kevin of San Angelo, Texas; grandsons, Zachery Thomas Wilson, Zane Albert Wilson and Sutton Lane Hurst; nephews, Kelly Hyde of North Carolina and Chad Hyde of Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Redman, Max Eschberger, Kermit Wendland, Gerald Sorrells, Bob Reece and Bobby Rountree.
Honorary pallbearers will be his three grandsons.
In lieu of flowers the family request a memorial to Hospice of San Angelo, Trinity Lutheran Church of Miles, a tax-deductible contribution to "Tom's Heavenly Flight", 402 Smith Blvd., San Angelo, Texas 76905 or a charity of choice.
