Remember that death is not the end it"s only the begining if you believe what god himself promised @ John 5:28 and 29 his son provedthat he had power over death when he ressurected Lazarus right here on earth and will do it at the appointed time again for all those who has fallen asleepin death

Darius,
When i heard that a boy from De La Salle high school had died, I felt extremely grief for the family. A couple weeks later my friend told me "hey, you know Darius Jones,he was in our first grade class" so i looked at my year book and there you were, I remembered you. I remember you would tell me that you had a pokemon in your backpack, and you couldn't see it because it was invisible. Also when you told me that you invented your scented valentine cards in your secret laboratory, i totally believed you. Man, you were hilarious you would start freaking out when your name tag was bent by the smallest bit on the corner .You were a great buddy and i'm glad to have known you, I will cherish those moments we had together.

To the Jones family,
Please take comfort in the fact that our heavenly Father understands what you are experiencing. Because of this type of pain, he sent his Son who promised at John 5:28-29 that those who have fallen asleep in death have the hope of a resurrection. He even descsribed the conditions that will be on earth at Ps. 37:9-11 and says that the very causes for pain, suffering and sorrow will cease.
I hope that these scriptures bring you comfort and strengthen the family.

Beverly,
I'm so sorry it took me this long to get up the courage to speak to you. Darius has been in the forefront of my mind ever since that day on the basketball court. I know that we did all that we could to help. How can I convey how deeply sorry I am for your loss? So many of us mothers feel the loss too since we have sons the same age and can't imagine your pain. Please know that many of us continue to pray for him and your family daily. I was so glad to see that you are making such a positive influence in the community with the Darius Jones Foundation. I hope more parents learn CPR and first aid and also help get the defibulators into ALL gyms that these youngesters play in.
I will always be in contact with you,
Love,

I did not know Darius or any of his family members, but I do know what it is to be a mother and have something happen to any of your children..God blessed you with this angel, unfortunately you only were able to enjoy him for a while, He is now with his creator in the heavens, watching over you and all those he has touched. His spirit will always live on as long as you keep him close to you heart. God Bless you and your family

well, hello my best memories with darius was when my best megan had a skit to do, me darius decided to join and watch her in the church.but in watching all of this me and darius we were fulling around with the book and then i broke one of the holders and me and Darius couldnt stop laughing, i dont why but it was one of the many funny time we together being bestfriends. I used to remember when Darius used to get scared of Beverly because of something that happened at school, Darius would be so scared that he wouldnt even talk, and i would be just laughing but at the same scared of what Beverly would to him. And those were some good and scary moments we had but theirs was much more...

To All:
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to each of you who took the time to share your feelings and fond memories of my beloved son, Darius. I want you to know that I read each and every one of the blogs and postings. Many of you knew him from his years of playing basketball and others as a student at St. Catherine’s or De La Salle. Some of you were friends and neighbors and some of you had never met him but heard from others of his kindness. Your words touched my heart and have helped me in my healing process.
We all miss Darius very much and look forward to the day when we will see him again in God’s kingdom. We love you and assure you that your presence in our lives makes it easier to bear our sorrow.
We find comfort in knowing that you were touched our precious Darius in some way. We know that he is smiling down on us and is extremely proud of the outpouring of love and support you have shown.
If I were to ask him what he would want me to say to each of you, he would say, “Mom, tell them life would be a lot easier if everyone was nice to each other. If everyone practiced sportsmanlike conduct on the court, field, at school and at play and if people would treat each other with respect. Tell them to not to be afraid to tell their friends and family how much they love and need them and to reach out to others and lend a helping hand. If we would love one another, our young lives would be much easier to live.”
We are in the process of investigating the creation of a Life Saving Educational Program that will be a lasting tribute to Darius. We will keep you informed of our efforts.
Thanks again for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Beverly Monique Bradley

Darius, you were an amazing teammate and friend. You defined what a basketball player, and a person, should be like. I always knew you were there to help me out on the court. I loved how you were always smiling. I remember how intimidated I was when I first started ASA, but you really helped me feel like I belonged. I'm glad you were able to enjoy 15 years on earth and I'm glad you could play the sport you loved with friends just before you died. The world has lost a great soul with your passing.
We will keep playing down here for you, to accomplish what you didn't have the chance to. Why? Because when we have the opportunity to do something we love it's simply wrong to pass it by, when others who would love to have our opportunities don't get them.
I'm still shocked and deeply saddened by your death. Words can't describe the pain I felt and do feel. I don't understand it, nor will I ever. What I do understand is that I need to do what you did best: enjoy life and help others. I know that this is the best thing I can do to honor you.
I will never forget the wonderful memories I made playing basketball with you. I remember the day before your death when you air balled a free throw and we all laughed about it. I remember right before our game that day shaking hands with you as I walked in the gym. I remember warming up that day when no one could make any shots and we were all laughing about it. I remember slapping you on the back and telling you, "Good drive." after you missed a layup only a couple minutes into the game. The only thing I don't seem to remember is the final play before it happened. I am told you stopped the other team from getting a fast break layup. I can't for the life of me recall it, but I don't doubt it for a second.
I would like to thank Darius's mom for being so kind and caring for me and others. She has really helped me through this time. I'm sure everything Darius knew she taught him with great love.
I miss you more than ever Darius. Enjoy playing basketball with the saints. I'll be up there one day, so you better stay in shape. We'll do some close out one on one's, or maybe full court.
With a heart of full of love and sadness,
-Tanner Rose, your teammate and friend forever

Beverley, Kevin and I are very sorry for your loss. I am very proud to have gotten the oppurtunity to get to know you and Darius. I really enjoyed hanging out courtside, watching our boys play CYO 08-09 basketball together, and discussing our high school options in the area. I have always felt the two of us had a lot in common and I admired you for being such a commited and dedicated young mother. I think it is remarkable that you went the extra mile to commute from Pittsburg daily to make sure Darius got a good education. You never knew it but I have always really admired you and Darius too! Kevin and I were really pleasantly surprised and happy to see the two of you at the MJHS 8th grade graduation. I hope Darius knows that his legacy will live on. Darius Jones is a real rolemodel for Kevin and other young minority boys who may think (for one reason or another)that a private school education is unobtainable. You are in my prayers! Please don't hesitate to contact me, I would love to hear from you. [email protected]

I didn't know Darius or any of his family members. However, as a father of three sons, I can not tell you that I know how you must feel. But what I can tell you is that God is real and he always has a master plan in place and Darius was a part of it.
The lord told us that he go to prepare a place for all of us and in his house are many mansions. I beleive my God; and I will not question his words. I will continue to pray for his family that they may find comfort in knowing that Darius is with our lord in one of those mansions with a basket ball court inside of it. Love, comfort and peace to all Darius family members and friends.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. Cherish your wonderful memories that will give you strength in the weeks and months to come. I hope that you find some comfort in the words at Philip. 4:6 & 7, "Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus." You are in the thoughts and prayers of many.

I had the pleasure of meeting Darius throuth the friendship that he and my son Brion had at Los Medanos. Darius was very kind and was very respectful. Every time I saw him after the boys had started attending different schools he still remembered me by saying,"hello Brion's mom." I remember Mrs. Alexzander, one of their grade school teachers, grouping the boys together to do a poem about why God made me black. All the boys, five of them I think, put their all into the poem but when Darius recited his part the room seemed to have gotten even more silent than before. We listened harder and felt the passion that he brought forth. I am Glad to have known Darius and glad that he and my son's paths have crossed. After being at the services today I know just why God made this Black Young Man!
My constant prayers will forever be with your family as your family heals from his passing. In trying to confort you, my Bible tells me to "here bring your wounded hearts,Here tell your anguish;Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal."

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Darius loved ones. I could only imagine the pain that you are feeling. I'm thankful I had the opportunity to meet and work with Darius through the First Baptist HeadStart Alumni program. I must say he was very respectful, did an outstanding job and had a beatiful smile which has left an impact on so many on and off the court. Hold on to all of the wonderful memories for comfort and may the love of those around you help you through the days ahead. May the Lord give you the strength you need.
Darius you have touched so many people's lives in a short journey of life but know that your team played hard this weekend to win in your honor. You are sadly missed.

I knew Darius from the time he came to our school, St. Catherine's when he was a fifth grader. I was lucky enough to be his Social Studies teacher when he was in 6th grade. I remember how much he liked sharing his name with Darius of Persia, how sweet and respectful he always was, and his beautiful smile. I will always remember Darius as the wonderful young man he was. God be with his Mom and Grandmother and with the rest of his family and friends.

Our Dear Beverley,
This is a letter from your youth sports family. We are so confused that God has allowed Darius to leave your arms for his. We had the pleasure of sitting next to you during our children’s happy pounding of the wooden floors at various “hoops” games in the recent past. More importantly, you invited us into your heart and we gladly stayed. You are most permanently in ours. I remember your concern for my mother’s emotional well-being, she, having lost a son as well. Your ability to reach out to others as a single mother, while looking out for your own mother is awesome. Our communities do not need a sophisticated bail-out or stimulus plan. We need you ! Darius was and will remain the essence of you. Thank you for gifting us with him. Please know, as some difficult days remain, we are blessed having you among us.

Though I didn't know Darius as well as I would have liked to, I played one basketball season with him and it was apparent that he was far more than just a good kid with a positive attitude. He was the major inspiration for our team. His hard work and constant drive to succeed is something we should all aspire to have. His name is in our prayers, as is the rest of his family. Rest in peace Darius.

Dearest Monique;
My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you and the Jones family for your loss.
I knew you and Pearson as the King and Queen of our yester-years, and can only imagine the Prince that was born as a result of your union.
I know that Darius was quite an extraordinary young man....Who now rests in God's embrace. His presence on earth seemed like a mere fraction of time, but in that span of time; his accomplishments and deeds are what has earned him a throne in the kingdom of God....So, he has been honored both in life, and now in his after-life.
Those are "blessings" Monique....
The remarkable thing is:
That we can always summon him with just a thought. That's all it takes. Because he is as near to us, - as our own hearts....So, he shall never be forgotten.
Paul Stelly

My prayers are with Darius' Family. I too have a son who plays basketball at one of De La Salle's Rival Catholic Schools in Sacramento. I use the term rival with endearment. A true basketball player has rivals on the court; and comrads of an exclusive High School Basketball family off the court. I pray that God takes care of our Family members. My heart has been severly saddened by a strangers death. Someone from "our family" has left way to soon. Let's all learn from this devastating experience.

I've known Darius ever since we moved into the neighborhood. I watched all the young kids grow up . However, Darius was special. Really paid attention to what was being said and strove to do his best. His mother was so proud of him. Beverly: May the love of your family and friends comfort you in your loss. Darius and Santana met their first time at St. Katherine's when they took their admittance test at the same time. Santana said to me once, Grammie, Darius is like me because his Grandma takes care of him alot but the only thing is he has a really great mom too. But his grandma is her backup. May the love you and your son shared, the memories you will carry in your heart and the knowledge that Darius is your special Angel in Heaven with our Heavenly Father support you in the days and weeks ahead. We are so very sorry for your loss. God's Blessings on all of you. Sincerely, Salomae, Santana, Angelo & Karla Trujillo

Darius was an incredible role model to my son Justin while attending St. Catherines. They both shared their love of basketball and he took Justin under his wing when he felt like an outcast entering in to a new school. Darius was a very respectable young man and captured the hearts of many with his charisma, charm, and devotion. He made a huge impact in Justins life and my son will strive to be just as amazing as Darius. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. Your child had an amazing soul and will be greatly missed by so many people affected by him!

Monique,
I remember when we would drop off our boys at basketball practice during the summer. That is when we met, talked and got acquainted. During the short time I’ve known you I’ve enjoyed your presence, and admired you. My thoughts were “what a great mom.” You radiated much love, much happiness, and much joy with your beautiful smile; please do not let that go. Thank you for giving Taylor Cu an opportunity to be part of your son’s life. Darius is dearly missed. My heart goes out to you… for your pain and your lost. Our beautiful memories of our lost ones are what will sustain us all. You did a great job in giving your son the best and raised a wonderful you man and I can only hope that I can do as a great job as you did in raising your son Darius and lead by example as I am Taylor’s stepmom. If there is anything you I can do for you please reach out.
A big hug goes out to you and our sincerity. Yolanda Cu & Family.

Darius - Even though I did not meet you, I wanted you to know how much you have impacted me. You always hear how important it is to "Live each day as if it was your last." Well, losing someone in my school community has really illustrated this hackneyed phrase.
"Once a Spartan, Always a Spartan." The school community on both sides of the street has come together to honor you - the Brotherhood (and the Sisterhood at CHS) truly lives on.
To Your Family - Everyone grieves in their own way. Find comfort knowing that Darius is watching over you, just from a different perspective...in heaven, I am sure. And never forget that death is not a goodbye, it is simply a "See ya later."
See ya later Darius...until we meet in heaven.

The loss of Darius is devastating. Loved and admired by many, it cannot compare to the tragedy for your family. May you find the strength to bear it and move forward the way he would have wanted you to do. May you be comforted. Heartfelt condolences from a friend of Darius' brother, Pearson.

Darius,
From the moment I first met you, I remember thinking that you had this amazing talent, you were so cool and the way you moved the ball was so smooth. I was hoping to have you on my team, but it didn't happen and I was bummed out. I wish I got to know you better, but just practicing with you was great, I will never forgrt your smile.
I know you'll be a big star up in heaven- Your Friend Jace Herrera

We met Darius last winter when he and my son played together on the 8th grade CYO basketball team. He was such a nice and wonderful young man. We are deeply saddened by his death, and our heart goes out to his mom, Beverly who we met at the games also. We are so sorry for your loss.

Hello Beverly,
My name is Diana Blount, I remember you and Darius stopped in at my son's basketball game in Martinez just couple months ago. You had mentioned to my husband, Nelson Blount and I that Darius would be going to De La Salle and will be trying out for the basketball team. You asked my husband if he had some time to help Darius with basketball. Unfortunately, because of his work schedule he did not get a chance to do that. My heart is broken. I can't begin to imagine what you are feeling right now to loose your only son, but I do know that as long as you hold on to GOD'S everlasting LOVE, you can't go wrong. I know it's hard to understand why GOD would take Darius from us at such a young age, but GOD knows best. Whatever you do, always remember that GOD NEVER MAKE MISTAKES. He has something else in stored for you. Me and my family LOVE YOU very much. We will keep you and your family in our prayers. Darius will be missed and will always be in our hearts.
Sincerely,
Nelson/Diana/Nicholas Blount

Dear Jones Family,
I am a student at Carondelet, the girls school across the street. I didn't know Darius, but I wish I did. He sounds like a hardworking, happy, optimistic, amazing kid. I wish I had known him, because I know he would have impacted my life greatly. My heart and prays go out to you, because I know it's not easy to lose a loved one. Don't forget that God has a plan for you, and He loves you.

Darius,
Cristian is at Caritas grieving your passing. He found out the day he left to Caritas camp and as i read you just happen to be there not to long ago. I know he will see and feel your presence there.
You were and always will be your momma's shinning star. SHe always wanted nothing but the best for you. She raised you well and was determined to pave your path to success no matter what! You were a very respectful young man who's life was cut too short. But as many have said, God only chooses the best to be his angels.
God bless your family Darius, and may you give your Mom and Grandma the strength they need to cope with your loss. You will be missed...R.I.P

Darius,
Your presence on and off the court was what defined who you were. You are a true role model for me. You showed me how to love the game of basketball to its full extent and to smile all the time. I know in my heart you are up in heaven with the biggest of smiles. You are a true athlete and friend. I will miss you Darius Jones.

Darius, I'm gonna miss you so much. I didn't know when I said "bye" to you on Thursday, it'd be for the last time. I'll never forget your warm smile that drew me to you first. You'll always be in my heart "Darell", I love you & miss you...

Darius was a great friend and an excellent person. When Darius joined us at St.Catherines, he quickly made friends with everyone. He had the most amazing, friendly smile that lit up the room. We were all devastated to hear about him passing away, but we all know that he is in a better place now.
We all love you Darius!
