John Curran Obituary

In loving memory of John Robert Curran John Robert Curran, 72 who died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 in Hayward, CA of an abdominal aneurysm. John left behind his wife of nearly 48 years, Lorraine (Moreau) Curran; his daughter Candy Conklin and her husband, Mark; his daughter Patricia Pine and her husband, Ron; his son Michael Curran; two grandsons, William and Joseph Pine and many friends and extended family. Born in Montreal, Canada to his parents, Herbert and Blanche (Mullay) Curran, John grew up developing a passion for music, outdoor activities, photography and baseball. As a young man, John began a career as a newspaper pressman with the Montreal Star. Shortly after, John would meet and later marry his wife, Lorraine. After getting married, John and Lorraine set out and moved to the Bay Area. It is here where John would spend the remainder of his life working as a pressman for the Oakland Tribune, the Daily Review and San Francisco Chronicle (ret. 2001) and raise his family. John was a proud union member, an avid reader on many subjects and a particularly passionate fan of the Oakland A's. John was many things to a number of people - trusted friend, Grandpa, Dad and "Honey" - and will be greatly missed by all of them. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) in John's name.
