Carlos was a great friend. A very generous person who always had time to share words of encouragement and a belly laugh that would lift the spirits of everyone around him. We are all better for having known him. Thank you, Carlos.

Carlos and I were friends for more than 20 years...he will be missed.
I pray that the goodness of the almighty will touch the Duenas' hearts and make their burdens much lighter to bear.

Carlos was a dear friend who never ceased to be my rock. Even in times when we didn't speak, I knew my friend was never far away. I can only hope he knows what a mark he left in my and many other's lives, he will be missed forever.
In life he put others before himself, and he wouldn't have had it any other way. I am glad I got the opportunity to bid Carlos farewell with his beautiful family yesterday, and I hope Carlos is now singing with the angels and in peace. There was no better man and a peace of my heart will always be missing.
Carlos, I will always remember the silly jokes, conspiracy theories, and funny memories we'd share. There is a hole in my heart where my dear friend was.

Carlos was such a wonderful person and his passing has placed a void in the universe. I worked with Carlos from 1998 to 2000 and remember some of the things that I'd said probably were shocking to most, but he and I would just fall out laughing, especially about our childish comedic views on life. Besides his brilliance and thoughtfulness, Carlos had a distinguished sense of humor that I'll always remember. Rest in peace my friend! God bless the Duenas family.

You can tell the soul of a person by their eyes. When I meet a person for the first time I look at their eyes and can tell what kind of a person they are. When I first met Carlos I could tell he had an ancient soul and was a caring person.
Carlos loved the Sierra Nevada. I remember the trips we would take going to visit my mom who lived in a little town outside of Murphys, CA. Oh how he loved going up there for a week-end to enjoy the beauty of the trees and mountains. The trees and mountains seemed to go way up into Heaven. My mom loved having Carlos visit. She loved having Carlos drive her through the back roads showing him all of the beautiful sites that most people do not get a chance to see unless they know someone who lives in the area. She loved to provide a history of each place we would visit. He loved my mom's stories.
Carlos seemed to be a different person when returning from those trips. It is if he found peace when visiting the Sierra Nevada. Now Carlos has eternal peace. I see Carlos sitting next to my mom leaving where she left off with her stories. Carlos can continue to enjoy her stories for eternity.
It is so difficult to understand why God has chosen to take Carlos at this time. But knowing he will have no more pain, only happiness will help bring peace to those who are left behind. . He is now with God's Angels.

Carlos trained me as a conflicts analyst at Thelen Reid & Priest. I could not have asked for a more patient, kind, & humorous teacher. I learned a lot from him regarding the job and much more through his wit and his keen observations of the world. I am astonished that he is gone. He was, and will always remain, a wonderful person to whom I was privileged to be considered a friend. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Duenas family. Carlos was a great guy and I will miss him.
