Jon Jeane Esser

Jon Jeane Esser "Jonnie" 8-25-1943 - 9-7-2010 Resident of San Leandro Jonnie was born in Abilene, Texas on August 25, 1943 to John and Helen Ball. Born into a military family, she lived all over the world while growing up. She graduated from Wurzburg Army High School in Germany and also attended college in Germany and Colorado. She soon started her business career and worked for Turner Construction Company in San Francisco. She was employed there over 25 years and retired in 2004. She was very proud of membership in their company group "The 25 Year Club". She enjoyed their outings and yearly gatherings and always looked forward to them. She was an avid golfer and was a long-time member of San Leandro Women's Golf Club and the "Happy Hookers" Traveling Golf Club. In retirement Jonnie was a dedicated well-loved volunteer at Wilson Elementary School in San Leandro. Jonnie was also an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader, and was known for her great love of animals and her plants. Jonnie was preceded in death by both her parents as well as her sister Janice all in Colorado. She leaves behind Tim Rooney of San Leandro, her long-time companion and best friend, sister Roberta Lopeman (Tom) of Berthoud, CO, Bob and Linda Fitzgibbons of Bridgewater, MA., and her closest friends and neighbors Sharon Suggs, Laura Sans, and Jude Miller all of San Leandro. Per her request, there will be no funeral services. Please come and join us for a celebration of her life on Friday, September 17, 2010 at Monarch Bay Golf Course, 13800 Monarch Bay Drive, San Leandro 5:30-8:00pm.
