God's peace and rest for "Dur". Thank you for investing so much good into my life.

Durland was our choir director at the First United Methodist Church in San Leandro. He was a wonderful musician and entertainer ... so very funny on and off stage! I remember him also as a giver. He helped my parents when they moved to Colfax many years ago. I have great memories of playing flute duets with him and also singing the duet "La ci darem la mano". So witty ... he composed a great song of dedication for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary, singing and accompaning himself on the guitar. He lived an exemplary Christian life and touched all he came in contact with. Condolences to his family. He was truely a great man.

I had the honor of meeting Durland only last year at the Dimond-O reunion up at the Los Mochos Scout Camp outside of Livermore. What a wonderful sense of humor he had as he and Joe Remlinger "sparred" back and forth. All the Scouts that he provided guidance to over the years at Dimond-O and MIWOK are better men because of his leadership. From the San Francisco Bay Area Council Boy Scouts of America, our condolences go out to his family.

Durland would come into my classroom and brighten our week! He and I were two parts of a trio in 1962, singing together in "A Loaf of Bread, a Jug of Wine, and Thou". :) What will Christmas be like without the traveling Skinner's newsletter?
With much affection to the family, and many fond memories,

The first time I met you, you were doing a presentation on "clocks". We sang My Granfather's Clock, Syncopated Clock, songs about time, and laughed at your jokes. What a wonderful way to get acquainted with Durland Skinner.

You were my teacher and my friend. You will be greatly missed by all that knew you. God's choir is richer because of you.

I'd bet that you and Dad (Jungle Joe) are fishing at Miwok Lake.
