Betty Urwan Obituary

Betty V. Urwan Resident of Oakland Aug. 27, 1923 - Sept. 12, 2010 Betty V. Urwan passed away peacefully at home on Sunday September 12. Betty was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to Oakland as a young girl, graduating from Castlemont High School. Betty enjoyed a career as a bookkeeper for various businesses including Hayes Furniture Manufacturing. Betty and her husband George also owned and operated Bee Gee's Ceramics on Bancroft Ave in San Leandro. Betty was proud to be a cancer survivor. Betty loved to celebrate Christmas with family and would find any occasion to give a gift. Betty is survived by her brother Richard and his wife Shirley of Clear Lake, nephews Jeff Burt (Mary) of Rancho Santa Margarita, Jay Burt (Lisa) of Puyallup, WA, John Burt (Annette) of Castro Valley, Rick Burt of Clear Lake and niece Toni Eslick (Ralph) of Pleasanton and their children. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40+ years, George, her brother Jack Burt and parents Harry J. and Violet Burt. Betty will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Sunday Sept. 19, 2010 from 5-7pm and a funeral service on Monday Sept. 20, 2010 at 9:30am at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. in Hayward.
