Marvin Yancy Obituary

Marvin L. Yancy Dec. 6, 1924 - Sept. 20, 2010 Resident of Newark Entered into rest on September 20, 2010 at the age of 85. Predeceased by his wife, Maxine Yancy in 2009. Beloved father of Susan Bolt and her husband, Jim, of Payson, AZ, and Michele Glidewell and her husband, Steve, of Newark. Loving grandfather to Ruth, James, and Daniel. Cherished great-grandfather of Kevin, Quintin, Vaughn, and Paige. He was born on December 6, 1924 in Glendale, AZ. Marvin was a WWII army veteran and belonged to the Newark Senior Center. The phrase that always comes to mind to best describe Marvin is "what a character"! He had more spring in his chicken than most people half his age. He never missed a day at Penny's donuts, enjoyed Bingo at Silliman Center, was an avid "peewee" golfer and he LOVED the "ponies". He loved time spent with family, "extra family" and friends and always had everyone in stitches... he was a character! Visitation on Tuesday, September 28th from 10-11am with a chapel service beginning at 11am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, 94536. Burial will follow at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1060 La Avenida Circle, Mountain View, 94043.
