Norman Fitzwater Obituary

Norman Fitzwater Resident of New Plymouth, ID Norman Fitzwater born on May 16th 1931 in Oakland California, died peacefully in Payette Idaho on Sept. 22, 2010. He passes away quietly in his sleep after a long struggle with heart disease and diabetes. He is finally at rest, but his laughs and smiles will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Norman grew up in Oakland California, where he enjoyed his childhood surrounded by his family. As a young adult he served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He was previous married and had two children, Billy and Kitty. He met his current wife of 40 years, Linda Olsen at the East Oakland Seventh -day Adventist church and they were married on June 20, 1970. They lived in San Leandro until he retired in 1986. He worked for Montgomery Wards for over 35 years. Norman was a longtime member and Elder of the East Oakland SDA church, were he enjoyed singing in the choir and working as a youth leader. In 1987 he and wife Linda Fitzwater moved to New Plymouth Idaho, were he lived the rest of his life enjoying the outdoors, fishing, bird watching, camping, gardening and most of all watching football. He has remained a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers and recently a big Boise State fan. He is survived by his loving wife Linda Fitzwater, sister Artist Coppen and husband Charley, of Nampa, Id.. He is fondly remembered and missed by his nieces and great nieces; Karen Payee and family , Ria Valdez and family, Antonina Horacek and family, Christina Rodriguez, who live in the Bay Area,; nephews and great nephews, Tim Coppen and family, Michael Valdez and family , who reside in the Bay Area,; Tim Olsen, and family and Doug Olsen of Caldwell, ID. Uncle Norman, you live in the hearts of everyone you touched, and so I won't say good bye. You will always be with us. "wrastling" on the grass, tickle fights, that huge belly laugh, fishing at Bridgeport, nature walks at coyote hills, watching the niners. You will always be loved, and this world is a better place because you touched it. Thank you for being such a huge part of our lives, uncy. A funeral service will be held on Sunday Oct. 3, 2010, 3p.m. at the New Plymouth Seventh- day Adventist Church, followed by a reception for family and friends.
