George Strosina Obituary

George F. Strosina Nov. 13, 1920 - Sept. 24, 2010 Formerly of San Leandro George F. Strosina, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather peacefully passed away on September 24, 2010. He was 89 years old. George was born in Troy, Wisconsin. He grew up on a farm in Milwaukee, served in WWII in New Zealand, then moved to California with his wife, Edna. He worked for 33 years at the Alameda Naval Air Station until his retirement. He raised his family in San Leandro. Edna passed away in 1989. Thereafter, he put his energy into gardening, fishing and time with his family. He traveled frequently to Europe, New Zealand including several trips to the Holy Land. George was known for his active conversations and interest in people and places. The fruits of his garden were enjoyed by family and his many friends and acquaintances through the 45 years he lived in San Leandro. He faithfully attended St. Leander's Catholic Church in San Leandro, and later Faith Lutheran in Castro Valley. He is survived by his son, George H. Strosina (daughters Mary and Monica Strosina), his daughter Amy Strosina (sons Christopher and Keith Price), and his daughter Peggy Plasch (son Eric Knoth and daughter Holly Newman), great granddaughters Kali Knoth and Avery Newman. As one of six children of J. George and Anna Strosina, George is survived by his sister Pat Klein, Peggy Giese and Carol Knotek of Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his sister Louise, and his brother Charles. Visitation for Family and Friends was held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward Tuesday evening, September 28th 5:30 until 7:30PM. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday. The family suggests donations in his memory to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or to the National Parkinson Association.
