Josephine Fonzeno Resident of San Leandro She was preceded in death by Frank Louis George, her loving husband of 62 years, her parents, her two older brothers. John "Johnny" Fonzeno (Tina) and Anthony "Dill" Fonzeno (Joy), and her younger sister Louise "Lou" Glorioso (Mike). She is survived by her youngest brother Nicolas "JR" Fonzeno (Cathy), her daughter Dorinda "Dori" George-Robinson (Dale), her son Dr. Frank George, her grand-children Derek Robinson (Jennifer), Matthew George and Lindsay George. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Caleb & Liam Robinson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In 1943, Jo and Frank came to the East Bay to visit relatives. They fell in love with it and decided to settle in Oakland. In 1959 they moved to San Leandro. They were members of Assumption Parish. They loved entertaining their large family during the holidays and going to Harrah's in Lake Tahoe. They were very proud of their children and maintained a well-trimmed yard and spotless home. She and Frank also loved caring for their grandchildren during their school years and were very involved in their lives. Jo was a teller for 15 years at Bank of America and Wells Fargo Bank in San Leandro. After retiring, she and Frank moved to Scottsdale, AZ. She had just returned to San Leandro in June and was a resident of Pacifica Senior Living. Mary George, known to family & friends as "Jo", passed away peacefully at San Leandro Hospital on Sunday, August 8, 2010. Jo was born in New Castle, PA on March 7, 1923 to Italian immigrants Nicola and Dorothea. Many thanks go to the staff at both Pacifica and San Leandro Hospital. The family would appreciate that donations be made in her memory to East Bay Children's Theater, 5218 Harbord Drive, Oakland CA 94618. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Leander's Church 550 W.
