John Silva Obituary

John F. Silva Nov. 16, 1923 - Oct. 1, 2010 Resident of Hayward John Silva passed away peacefully on Friday at home with his wife nearby according to his wishes. He was 86 years old. John was born in Lowell, Massachusetts to Felissimo and Rose Silva. He graduated from Hayward High in 1942, then enlisted into the navy for four years. He married Ina Dickey on May 31, 1947. John worked for Sunshine Biscuit Company in Oakland for 39 years. John loved being active and enjoyed cars, fishing, camping, and being a handyman helping his family, friends, and neighbors. He organized deep-sea fishing trips with many people from Sunshine. He had a "fan" club in which he installed several people's ceiling fans. John is survived by his loving wife Ina of 63 years, devoted children Dolly Gail (Art) of Grass Valley, Ed Silva (Linda) of Los Gatos, 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also two sisters, Rose Viani and Helen Fulkerson both of San Lorenzo. A graveside service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward on Friday Oct. 8, at 11:00 a.m. Donations in the name of John Silva can be made to Sutter VNA & Hospice.

Our families had many, many fun times together and we'll always have so many memories of Uncle Johnny that will be remembered always. Ina, Dolly, Ed and families, our thoughts and prayers are will you.
