Rachel Golden-Thomas Obituary

Rachel Alice Golden-Thomas Jul. 11, 1927 Sept. 29, 2010 Resident of Oakley, California Beloved wife for 57 years of Albert Sylvester Thomas, caring sister of Mallaliue Revels II, Mariam Ruth and Brady Ella, loving mother of Albert S. Thomas Jr., Richard Thomas, John Thomas and Victor Thomas, she was the treasured grandmother of seven grandchildren and devoted great grandmother of nine great grandchildren. Rachel positively influenced the lives of many with her advise, support and guidance. She was born in Granada, Mississippi, to Mallalieu Revels Golden and Jon Ella Mack-Golden where she graduated from Granada High School. Rachel attended Alcorn State University and later attended Cal State Hayward where she received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. The author of the self-published book, "Lord, Teach Us to Pray," Rachel was a well-established member of the Bay Area Christian Church for over 20 years where she served as a Bible Talk Leader, one of the Noble Women of the Church and as matriarchs of the church. Rachel enjoyed reading and writing prayers. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, October 8, 2010. The viewing will be at 10:00 am and the Service will be held at 11:00 am, at Saint Augustine's Episcopal Church, 525 29th Street, Oakland, CA 94609 (510) 832-6464.
