Joseph Velasquez Obituary

Joseph J. Velasquez Aug. 15, 1928 - Oct. 6, 2010 Resident of Hayward, CA Joe passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Joe was born in Questa, New Mexico on August 15, 1928, graduating from Fremont High School in Oakland, Ca. He leaves behind his loving wife, Lois, who he shared his life with for 56 years. He is survived by his sister Josephine Soldano of Sacramento, his daughter Karen of Hayward, son and daughter-in-law David and Karen of Hayward, and his son and daughter-in-law Craig and Nivin of San Ramon. Joe was blessed with seven grandchildren Keith Rofinot of Reno Nv., Benjamin Rofinot (preceded in death, 2002), Corinne, Melissa, and Joel Velasquez of Hayward and Anthony and Aaron Velasquez of San Ramon. Also, he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Joe served 20 years in the U.S. military and was deployed to Korea and Vietnam. Following his service, he retired from Peterbilt Motors. Lastly, for numerous years he co-owned a family income tax business, retiring just days before his passing. Viewing will be on Monday, October 11, starting at 5:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel, 1140 B St, Hayward, Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 12 at 11:00 a.m. also at Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel. In lieu of flowers and to help battle juvenile cancer, donations can be made to the family's favorite charity Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel FD 126 510-581-1234
