Donald Jorgensen Obituary

Donald Paul Jorgensen Resident of Fremont went peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 6, 2010 in Fremont, California. Don was born on June 23, 1933 in Santa Rosa, California to Richard Jorgen Jorgensen and Elma Maria Johanna (Bill) Jorgensen. He grew up in Santa Rosa and lived there until completing Santa Rosa Junior College. Throughout high school and college he worked for the California Division of Forestry before spending two years stationed in Germany while in the army. He then used his G.I. Bill to attend San Jose State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance. He became a Certified Public Accountant working both in the corporate world and later with his own practice, retiring in 2005. SJSU is where he met his wife of 49 years Helen Arlene (Huffman) Jorgensen. He enjoyed playing many sports and avidly followed baseball, basketball and football at both the college and professional levels. Don enjoyed being with his family, especially at the annual Jorgensen family reunions and getting together with long time friends and reminiscing about the stories of their youth. He is survived by his wife, Helen, formerly of Stockton, California; daughters Karen Boyce (husband Bill), Gayle Jorgensen (husband Gil), and Diana Cumming (husband, Kirk); grandchildren, Lindsay and Jonathan Boyce, and Kira and Kylie Cumming; brothers Richard Jorgensen and Leon Jorgensen and sister Barbara Gifford (husband Ralph) ; and numerous nieces & nephews. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a memorial service on Saturday October 16th at 1:00 pm at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 4181 Irvington Avenue, Fremont, CA 94538.
