Wynafred Scott Obituary

Wynafred Scott of San Lorenzo Jan. 23, 1917 - Oct. 13 2010 Wynafred Scott, known to her family as "Dede", at age 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning of natural causes. She was a long time resident of San Lorenzo. Wynafred was preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony James Scott Jr. She is survived by her children Marilyn Camp, Dennis Scott, Peggy Oxenford, Sue Olson and Anne Woosley. She left behind 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and her brother Harold Steese who is 97 years old. Wynafred was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and as a small child moved to Polson, Montana. As a young woman she attended Dillon Normal School where she received her teaching credential. She taught third grade in Polson, Montana during World War II. In 1941 Wynafred moved to Los Angeles where she met Anthony. Anthony and Wynafred were married in a little church in Montabello on December 5, 1943. When the war ended Wynafred and her husband moved to Oakland, California and then settled in San Lorenzo in 1955 where she remained until she moved to Rosegate Assisted Living to spend her final years. Wynafred was a Girl Scout and Campfire leader and active in the PTA while her children were in school. She was a member of the "Mother Singers of San Lorenzo" for several years. She took care of neighborhood children and taught in a community nursery school for a short time. She had a life long love of music and children. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano for her children and grandchildren. Wynafred had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and read the Bible daily. There will be a private family memorial on Saturday at Santos and Robinson Mortuary in San Leandro. Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher in Hayward directly after. She was such a beautiful, sweet woman. I will always remember we would mow her lawn and she would make us grilled cheese sandwiches and play the piano for us. I was sad when she sold her house. God bless her and I am sorry for your loss.
