I learned by accident 11/9/10 that Lowell died-was doing a search for him! We had not been in touch since 1968 but in 1965, in VISTA training, Sarasota, Fla, we had a romance. We would sneak away after group dinners, go have a drink. We were always singing Jesus Met The Woman at the Well (a la Mahalia Jackson), which made us laugh for some reason. He was a poet, I a fledgling writer. After VISTA, I spent a couple of weekends with him in Berkeley and he was my tour guide to the huge hippie scene. He was WAY into the movement, I remained on the fringes, so altho we were fond of each other, we weren't quite on the same page. Last time I saw him was my wedding day, 1968. We sat outside on a curb talking for a while and I felt wistful about this parting. After all this time, I thought it would be fun to find him online and was shocked to instead find this obituary. I have fond memories of him and found him quite fascinating when we knew each other.

We will all miss Lowell. He was a great cousin and friend.
