Katherine Lukas Obituary

Katherine Lukas Nov. 25, 1917 - Oct. 13, 2010 Resident of Oakland Katherine was born in Altun Oglu Tsiflik, near Sevas, Turkey and was a survivor of the Greek population exchange. She was a Bay Area resident for 73 years. Preceded in death by her husband, John Lukas, and survived by her daughters: Maxine (Jerry) Victor; Parthena (John) Kanelos; Liberty (Dr. Charles) Ramirez. Katherine was also much loved by her grandchildren: Kathy (George) Tsivikas; Alex (Pamela) Victor; Anna Maria (James) Simos; Carrie (Hans) Starks; Eleni (Ruairi) O'Connor; and Demitra Kanelos. Great-grandmother to Elena, Marisa, Emily, Kosta, Sarah, Elias, and Marina. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors whose lives she touched. Katherine had a beautiful garden and enjoyed weaving, sewing, knitting, and cooking. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension, and of the Arcadians and the Philoptochos Society. Trisagion is at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension on October 18th at 7:00 PM. The Funeral service is at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Ascension on October 19th at 10:00 AM. Jess C.
