Albert "Al" Frenz

Albert "Al" Frenz 1923 - 2010 Resident of San Leandro Al Frenz, age 87 years old, a lifelong resident of Alameda County passed away Tuesday, October 12 in Pleasanton. He was a kind, fun loving person who enjoyed his life, his work and the many people he encountered throughout his life. Al served in the Coast Guard, Fireman First Class, from 1942 to 1945. He worked for 30 years as a carpet and flooring installer and was a member of Local 1290, from 1957 to 1986. After a few years of retirement he became the Manager of the Thornton Manor Apartments in San Leandro from 1991 to 2010. He was a member of the Masonic Fremont Lodge 497 in Oakland and also other Masonic Lodges in the area. He also enjoyed membership in the Moose Lodge, San Lorenzo/Castro Valley and the Eagles Lodge in Hayward. Al's generous and loving spirit will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. He is survived by his brother, Elden Frenz of Manteca and his sister, Judy Frenz of Stockton. He is also survived by his daughter Kathy Pantner of Concord, son Ron Frenz of North Carolina and step-daughter Doreen Myers of Pleasanton. Al was a very proud grandfather to his grandchildren - Benjamin Pantner, Elizabeth Pantner, Chuck Frenz, Lori Frenz, Rhonda Ferrell, Julie Lagorio, Sheri Lagorio, Steve Myers, Dale Myers and also his great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service that will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 21st at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, 510-471-3363. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial contributions to be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 819, 1105 Bancroft Ave., San Leandro, CA 94577 or Hope Hospice, 6377 Clark Ave, # 100, Dublin, CA 94568.
