John Russell Hyde

John (Johnny) Russell Hyde Resident of Pleasanton John Hyde was born on February 10, 1949 in Berkeley and died at home in Pleasanton on October 18, 2010 where he was a resident for the last 10 years. John was raised in Alameda and attended Franklin & Haight Elementary Schools, and Alameda High School class of 1967. He received his AA degree from Laney College and attended Hayward State. He was employed by Alameda Hospital until his death, where he worked in radiology and was admired by his co-workers and developed lasting friendships which he considered family. Johnny's lifelong passion was cars and he was a true car nut. He was an aficionado of both model and classis cars, and particularly enjoyed the cars of his youth from the 50's and 60's. John is survived by his loving sister, Kathleen Holstead (Ray) of San Francisco. He also leaves behind four nephews, Robert Holstead of San Bruno, Edward Holstead (Lyn) of Castro Valley, Andre DeKelver of Seattle, WA, and Russell DeKelver of San Diego, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Russell & Florence B. Hyde, and his sister Kristin Hyde-DeKelver (George). MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary 4167 First St., Pleasanton, CA (925) 846-5624. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation starting at 1PM with the funeral service at 2 PM. Burial will be private.
