Thomas George Obituary

Thomas (Don) George Resident of Livermore May 30, 1926 - Oct. 19, 2010 Don George passed away peacefully on Tuesday at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving daughters. Don was born in El Paso, Texas, the only son of Margaret and Millard George. He was raised in Texas, New Mexico, Mexico, and San Francisco until his parents settled in the East Bay community of El Cerrito. After graduating from El Cerrito High School in 1944, Don served his country in the Pacific during WWII. He attended the Univ. of California at Berkeley and, afterward, worked for many decades as an accountant, a job that took him to Texas, New York, and, eventually, back to the Bay Area. Although Don traveled overseas only during the war years, he absolutely loved long road trips and camping out with family and friends. He was well known for his kindness, his generosity, and his sense of humor. His passion for watching NFL football games on television and his great affection for the Dallas Cowboys was legendary. Don is survived by his daughters Debbie Ault and Lisa Glasser, two son-in-laws, Rich and John, and two grandchildren, Kate and Andy. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 4:00PM at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Avenue, Livermore, CA Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
