Carol Suggs Obituary

Carol Massmann Suggs Resident of Fremont Carol Massmann Suggs, 62, died October 5, 2010 in Tübingen, Germany after a short illness. Carol was born to the late William F Massmann and Alda K Massmann on April 23, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan. She moved with her family to Terrytown, New York in elementary school and then to Dallas, Texas, where she graduated from Bryan Adams High School. After high school, she attended Arlington State College. She met Richard F. Suggs, an Army Specialist, in 1970 in Germany while working with the USO. Richard and Carol returned to the United States and married April 7, 1972. Rich and Carol settled in the San Francisco Bay area. Over the next few years, they were blessed by two sons, J and Ron. Carol enjoyed countless hobbies and interests. She was a dedicated gardener, an avid reader of mystery novels, a seasoned traveler and she loved to crochet. She was always curious and was known for her detailed research on a variety of subjects. She was a lover of languages and learned American Sign Language, Lithuanian and German. She thrived on her relationships with God, family and friends and loved meeting new people. Carol is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard Suggs; sons, J of Gingen an der Fils, Germany and Ron of Rocklin, California; mother, Alda K Massmann; sister, Diane Jurach and 7 grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday October 23, 2010 at Cedar Boulevard Neighborhood Church in Newark. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cedar Boulevard Neighborhood Church, The American Bible Society, Word to Russia, Arthritis Foundation, Mission Possible or your favorite charity.
