Helen Ehmann Obituary

Helen Janett Ehmann Resident of Hayward Helen Janett Ehmann was born Feb. 22, 1937, in Pecos, TX, and died Oct. 17, 2010, in Hayward, CA, after a long illness. She was 73. Known to her family as Jan and to her friends as Mickie. She graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland, in 1955. She was a Baptist and long time Hayward resident. Her husband, Kenneth E. Ehmann of Hayward, remembers her as "generous and always ready to help people, to lend a helping hand." Wanda Enfinger of Hayward, a friend of 28 years, recalls Mrs. Ehmann as "my good, true friend, always funny, trying to make everyone feel good." Toni Mullin-Stetler of Jamestown, Mrs. Ehmann's younger sister, says her earliest memory of Jan was "when I was 5 years old and we were in the bedroom, she started playing a ukulele and suddenly jumped up and was dancing around and singing 'Ain't She Sweet.' "I worshipped and adored her as a child. She was always there for me, like a second mother because our mother was so ill. She included me on trips, watched out for her little sister. She always wanted to be a blonde, so we made sure she was before she died." Besides her husband, and younger sister, Mrs. Ehmann is survived by son, Kenneth T. Ehmann of Orangevale, an older sister, Connie Reel of Twain Harte, and many nieces and nephews. Inurnment will be at the Chapel of Memories, 4401 Howe St., Oakland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a favorite charity are preferred.
