Claremont L. Freitas June 1, 1925 - Oct 21, 2010 Life long resident of Hayward Claremont L Freitas, known as CL or Clarie Freitas passed away peacefully at Sutter Hospital in Tracy, CA surrounded by his loving family. He will be missed dearly by his relatives, friends and neighbors. Born June 1st, 1925 to John and Pauline Freitas of San Leandro, CA. He attended San Leandro High School. He served in the 1st Infantry division for the Army in World War II, he received many combat awards for bravery and heroism for defending his country including the Bronze Star. After he married his High School sweetheart Theresa Baptista of Hayward, he worked for Foster and Klieser Outdoor advertising as a Painter for 35 years and was a life long member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied trades, Local #510. Clarie enjoyed going to Raider and A's games, going to Bingo on Friday nights. While on vacation he loved to spend his time in Clearlake or Lake Tahoe with his family. Preceeding him in death in 1998 was his wife Theresa Freitas of 52 years of marriage, and his daughter Chalice Bettencourt of Newark, CA in 1978. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Tracy and Kathy Freitas of Tracy, CA, his sister Georgina Souza of Patterson, CA, his Grandchildren Ashley Freitas, Brian Freitas, and Jennifer and Alyssa Bettencourt of Tracy, CA. and son in law and daughter inlaw Louis and Caren Bettencourt of Tracy, CA and uncle to many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Thursday October 28, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with a Vigil and Rosary Service at 7:00 pm, at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Rd, Hayward, CA 94542. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday October 29, 2010 at 10:30 am, at St. Joachim Church, Hayward. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward Holy Angels Funeral and Cremation Center (510) 537-6600
