Mary Lazzarino

Mary Lazzarino Former resident of Alameda Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Auntie Mary Mary Lazzarino passed peacefully from this life on Thursday October 21, 2010 at the age of 96. Born on February 23, 1914 in Stockett, Montana to Maria (Sciaqua) and Girolamo Centoni of Lucca Italy, Mary was the second of four girls. Her sisters were Eileen Pellegrini, Elizabeth Breaud, and Gloria Giorgi. Together with Mary, the four sisters are fondly remembered as "The Golden Girls." Mary was raised in Stockett, Montana along with her sisters. The family moved to Madera, California and later to Oakland. Mary continued her education in Oakland, graduating from Fremont High School. In 1941 Mary married the love of her life, Frank Lazzarino. To this union a daughter, Stephanie, and a son Michael were born. Mary worked over 35 years for the Bank of America, starting at the Alameda Branch and later at the Oakland Main Branch. At her retirement, she was the Head of New Accounts. She was one of the founders of the Bank of America Retiree's Association and remained a board member up until last year. Mary found great enjoyment in helping others. She volunteered countless hours for the BofA Retiree's Association, and crocheted caps for newborn babies. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her long time Camden Road neighbors. She enjoyed her regularly appointed telephone calls with friends and family. Mary lost her husband Frank in 1980 and her son Michael in May of this year. In passing Mary leaves her daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Ed Lynch of Bakersfield, and daughter-in-law Corky Lazzarino of Quincy. She leaves three grandchildren, Shawn Walker of Santa Clarita, Stacy Lynch of San Luis Obispo, Jesse Lazzarino of Torrance, a great-granddaughter Mckenzie Jo Walker, brother-in-law Henry Giorgi, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mary's life will be held in Alameda. The family thanks the staff of Emeritis, Hoffman Hospice, and the "girls" from Interim for their caring and compassion.
