James Royce Obituary

James Parviz Royce Jan. 30, 1947 - Oct. 3, 2010 Resident of San Lorenzo James Parviz Royce, of San Lorenzo, died October 3, 2010. He was born on January 30, 1947 in Oakland, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Royce and his brother, Mark Royce. James Royce is survived by his wife, Gwen, his mother, Ora, his brother Erik, his sister Rhya, his sister Melody and his brother Doug. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Julia, Ross, Ryan, Matthew, Zachary, River, Kacy, Jessica, Brian, Jeffrey, Lowell and Colin. James studied Biology and Psychology, at San Francisco State University, Engineering at San Jose State University and graduated from Law School in San Francisco. He became very interested in Computer Science, built his own computers and researched medical subjects extensively. His studies spurred a great interest in the environment and he volunteered tirelessly to protect and expand appreciation for animals and nature. He was an active member of the Sierra Club and other similar organizations. James loved to discuss the habits of birds, the intricacies of raising orchids and the beauty of Yosemite. He loved music and played Classical and Flamenco Guitar and Piano. James was an avid volunteer. He had a great desire to help others and make life better and easier for those around him. In the last few years he became a frequent patient of a local DaVita Dialysis Center, arranging to have improvements made to increase the quality of life for other patients who visited. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church, 35450 Newark Blvd., Newark, CA. Donations can be made to UNESCO, Int'l Rescue Committee or Sierra Club.

Jim was a great man, a better man than I'll ever be. He inspired me to play music. He helped me out greatly when I was growing up. He used his potential as well as he could. He loved his wife Gwen so much and was devoted totally to her. He will be missed to the full extent that missing a person can be.
