Darius C. "Bill" Wentz

Darius C. "Bill" Wentz Dec. 3, 1916 - Oct. 20, 2010 Resident of Hayward Darius Cornelius "Bill" Wentz was born in Heil, N. Dakota to William and Sophia Wentz on December 3, 1916. The family eventually settled in Sacramento, CA where Bill graduated from Sacramento High. He met the love of his life, Irene Hagen, when they sang together in the church choir and they married on June 7, 1941. They were such lovebirds that their friends called them "Bill and Coo"! They made their home in Hayward since 1960 and Bill was preceded in death by Irene on March 17, 2009. Bill enjoyed a career as a Farmer Bros. Coffee salesman for 29 years and then continued to have a second career as a driver at Bay Cities Auto Auction well into his eighties. He loved to drive, he loved his family, he loved the Lord and he loved to make people laugh! The little hymn "Brighten the Corner Where You Are" comes to mind and he, indeed, brightened every corner with his warmth and thoughtfulness each and every day. Bill was the beloved father of Nancy Cilenti (his "Lolly") and the devoted grandpa of Jack and Bobby Cilenti (his "Jackeroo" and "Boberoo"). The family wishes to invite you to a celebration of Bill's life on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 2 PM at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 301 Burlingame Ave., Burlingame, CA. Inurnment will be private at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA
