Steve Michael Econome Aug. 31, 1922 - Nov. 1, 2010 Resident of San Leandro Steve Michael Econome, 88, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and family on November 1, 2010. Mr. Econome was born in Stockton, California; the oldest child of Greek immigrant parents, Joanna and Michael Steve Econome. He leaves his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Kiki, and their children, Joann and her husband Bill Triphon, James S. Econome and his wife KC, Kathryn and her husband George Wyatt, Michael S. Econome, and Diane and her husband Dean Langley; grandchildren, Julianne and Teddi Triphon, Christine and Andrea Econome, Alexis and Michael Wyatt, Elisabeth and Steven Langley. He is also survived by his sisters, Ann Katsivalis, Helen Harris, and Mary Tragoutsis. Mr. Econome moved with his parents and three younger sisters from Stockton to Oakland in 1940. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as a China Clipper aircraft mechanic at Treasure Island. Later he served in the United States Merchant Marines as a purser on Liberty and Victory ships. His professional career spanned 40 years as a full service hotel, restaurant, and hospital supply and equipment sales. He enjoyed a 50 year hobby as a private pilot and was a docent for 16 years on the Jeremiah O'Brian Liberty Ship, moored at Pier 45 in San Francisco. Greek Orthodox Trisagion services will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd, 7 pm, at Santos Robinson Mortuary, 160 Estudillo Ave., San Leandro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 4th, 12:30 pm, at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland.
