Bennie R. Ghiglione

Bennie R. Ghiglione a long time resident of San Lorenzo entered peacefully into rest at home on November 2, 2010. He was 90 years of age. A native of California who was born in Oakland on March 5, 1920. Bennie was a graduate of Hayward High School class of 1938. During WWII he served honorably with the U.S.Army. For over 42 years he worked as a salesman for both the Oakland and San Francisco produce marts. An avid sports fan who for years coached the San Lorenzo Little league. He loved all sports but especially his teams the the 49'ers and Giants. Ben was also very active with St. Vincent de Paul society and the Salvation Army food programs. He also was a lifetime member of the Alpicella Club. A loving husband, father, nonno, uncle and friend he will be truly missed by all who knew him. Bennie leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 61 years Olita C. Ghiglione, his loving children Richard Ghiglione and wife Linda of Yakima,WA and Joanne Ghiglione of Vacaville. loving nonno of Benjamin, Jennifer, Steven and Kevin. He was preceded in death by his son the late Danny Ghiglione in 2006. His parents Mike and Josie Ghiglione and Sisters Louise Seronello and Madeline Perata. Visitation for Bennie will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8pm at Grissom's Chapel / Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo,Ca. A vigil service will be held at 7pm Thursday at the chapel. Family and friends will gather at 10:30am on Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling blvd. San Lorenzo,CA for the funeral mass. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. The family would like to thank his caregiver Bobby and Pathway's Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to him. In Lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Pathway Hospice or St. Vincent de Paul Society. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts. We love and miss you.
