Alfonso Martinez

Alfonso Martinez a former long time resident of Berkeley entered peacefully into rest in Castro Valley on November 3, 2010. He was 88 years of age. A native of New Mexico, who was born on September 12, 1922, Alfonso was a Veteran of WWII who proudly served with the U.S. Navy during the Battle of Normandy. For years he owned and operated a private parking facility in Berkeley. He was an avid reader of all types of literature, Alfonso was a devoted family man, nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family of who he was so proud. Alfonso is survived by his loving children Alan K. Martinez and wife Emily, Dennis W. Martinez and wife Kathy, and Toni Akin. His devoted grandchildren Deborah, Leonard, Lisa, Jon, Maryellen, Terry, David, Dennis and Crystal. He also leaves behind 17 great grandchildren. Visitation for Alfonso will be held on Monday from 4 to 8pm at GRISSOM'S CHAPEL/MORTUARY, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo, CA. A vigil service will be held Monday at 7pm at the chapel.
