Madeline Williams Obituary

Madeline Harriet Williams Dec. 1, 1936 - Oct. 20, 2010 Resident of Oakland Madeline Williams of Oakland passed away Wednesday, October 20, at her daughter's home following an extended illness. Born in Vallejo, Ms. Williams was the youngest of six children of Peter and Cleola Williams. She attended schools in Vallejo and graduated from Berkeley High School. She attended San Francisco State University. She lived in Harlem, Washington D.C., and North Carolina before returning to Berkeley and later Oakland. She spent her final years in Capitol Heights, Maryland. While in Vallejo she received her Christian education at Kyles Temple A.M.E. Zion Church. While living in Berkeley and Oakland she was a self employed Non Profit Organization Bookkeeper and a recreational tennis player. She is predeceased by her parents, and her brother Jasper Williams. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Tamu Seck (Papa Maniang Seck) of Capitol Heights, MD, and her twin granddaughters Fatouja and Madeline Seck of Capitol Heights, MD; two brothers James Williams (Ursula) of Vallejo and William Williams of Berkeley; two sisters Lufina Wilcox of Oakland and Tornelia Smith of Vallejo; and a host of relatives, nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. on November 13th at Kyles Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, 912 Florida Street, Vallejo.
