Richard Davis Obituary

Richard Anthony "Tony" Davis Nov. 16, 1937 - Nov. 7, 2010 Resident of San Leandro Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed from this earth on Sunday, November 7, 2010 after a courageous 4-year battle with cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Glenda Davis, his loving daughter & son-in-law Larisa (Lara) and Carrol Preble of San Diego and his adored granddaughters Lacey and Jahsina. He was brother-in-law to Shirley & Bob Kramer of Omaha, NE, Louie & Donnie Shelton of Australia and Cole Chote of Shreveport, LA. He is also survived by a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished long-time friends Rosella & John Onate of Pleasanton and Gabriel Crotti of Hayward, whom he considered family. Tony grew up in Long Island, NY with the beach as his playground. He became a lifeguard there and never lost his love of the ocean, later traveling many times to Hawaii with his wife and daughter. He was always very creative and became a master craftsman with woodworking and cabinetry. He enjoyed collecting, preserving and displaying antiques and mementos of the past. Tony will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit and his love of family and friends. He never met a stranger and never left a friend without a hug. His favorite expression was "We don't say goodbye, we say 'A hui ho' or 'see you again soon'. And so we say to our beloved Tony, Aloha, Mahalo and A hui ho until we meet again. The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to the doctors and staff of Kaiser Hayward Oncology and to the Kaiser Hayward Hospice nurses and staff for their loving and tender care and friendship throughout Tony's illness. They have all become our extended family. In lieu of flowers, donations to Kaiser Hayward Hospice or a cancer research fund will be very much appreciated. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass and blessing of the ashes on Saturday, November 20, 11:00 am at Church of the Assumption, 1100 Fulton Avenue, San Leandro. A reception/celebration will be held at San Leandro Marina Inn, 68 Monarch Drive, San Leandro 94577 at 12:30 pm following the Mass.

Steve Carter West Estate Sales

I learned today that my good friend and customer Tony is no longer with us. When I'd look out the window and see Tony & Glenda in line I knew we would have a successful estate sale that day. We would often discuss his battle with cancer and his status, and I was impressed with his bravery. I will always remember Tony for his concern and compassion for others during his most difficult of times.
