Cornelius F. Phelan

Cornelius F. Phelan Sept. 25, 1925 - Nov. 10, 2010 Resident of San Leandro Cornelius Phelan passed away peacefully in Auburn, CA on Wednesday afternoon. Con entertained and brought joy to countless people, family and friends. He was born in Limerick, Ireland and was a member of the Royal British Air Force during World War Ii. Con, his wife and their four children immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1957. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, they immigrated to San Leandro, CA with six children in 1965. He worked in traffic management for General Electric and Shaklee Corporation, but his real passion was music. He was a band leader, drummer, singer and story teller, performing in many venues and styles. His proudest moment was his bands performance at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco. Trained as a drummer in the Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band, Limerick, Ireland he mastered many instruments including the E Flat horn, timpani, xylophone, and harmonica. He was preceded in death by Philomena his loving wife of 51 years, his son Cornelius Phelan, and his daughter Ann Tiffany. He is survived by his son Christopher and his wife Jacki of Auburn, CA, Shaun of Vancouver, WA, Michael of San Leandro, CA and Gary of Vancouver, British Columbia. His eight grandchildren, Adina, Kevin, Ryan, Eric, Regina, Michael, Katrina, and Bernadette and ten great grandchildren, Kassandra, Theo, James, Shaliece, Isaiah, Casey, Haley, Leanna, Rylan, and Marissa. Two great great granddaughters, Jayonni and Leonni. He is also survived by his brother Patrick and his wife Kathleen of Limerick, Ireland and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
