Rose Wilson Obituary

Rose Helen Rychtarik Wilson Resident of Livermore Rose Helen Rychtarik Wilson was born in Cicero Illinois on July 30, 1922. She was the youngest of 5 children. She was the adventurer in her family due to her being the first to go to college. She went on to become a Nurse and a Navy Lieutenant. Rose met the love of her life, marine officer David P. Wilson, while taking care of him in a military hospital. They married in 1950. Rose was honorably discharged in 1952 due to the birth of her only child David. Rose and her family retired from the military and settled in San Diego where she was a public health nurse. In 1960 they moved to Livermore where she worked for the V.A. Hospital as an orthopedic nurse and supervisor. After long suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis, she retired from the V.A. in 1971 and became a nursing instructor for the R.O.P. program in Alameda County. In the 1980's Rose and David moved back to San Diego then Tucson Arizona. In December 2000 Rose and David were becoming ill and asked their son to move them back to Livermore. They eventually took residence at the Livermore V.A. nursing home. David P. Wilson died in 2001. Rose thrived at the nursing home, becoming involved in many activities. Thanks to Bud Donaldson she became an award winning artist. Rose loved the dog volunteer visits. She stayed active until six months before death on Nov 14, 2010 at the age of eighty eight. We didn't know Rose well, but Maggie (my dog) and I so much enjoyed visiting her when we went to the V.A. I have learned so much about her from the obit and wish I knew her longer. She is in a better place and is with all the animals she loved.
