Jason Santiago Obituary

Jason Gilbert Santiago Mar. 6, 1987 - Nov. 17, 2010 Resident of Fremont, CA Jason Gilbert Santiago passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning. He touched many lives with his gentle spirit and loving kindness. His favorite pastimes were collecting vinyl records of his favorite artists such as The Who, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. His first love was bike riding - long rides discovering new trails. He also enjoyed reading books, climbing Mission Peak, and taking vacations with his family to Los Angeles and Lake Tahoe. Jason was born in Hayward, CA, graduated from American High School, earned his Associates Degree from Ohlone College, and was working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from San Jose State University. Jason was awarded the distinction of Dean's Scholar during his time and SJSU. Jason is survived by his parents, Virginia and Ruben, of Fremont; and his sister, Alisha, of Fremont. He also leaves his maternal aunt, Barbara MacKay Vinson, of Greensboro, NC; his maternal uncle, Paul E. Theobald, of Livermore; his cousins and many friends. His gentle presence, his kindness and innocent spirit will be missed by all who knew him. Jason was more than a son and a brother, he was a best friend. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Monday, Nov. 22, from 6 to 8 pm and to the Funeral Service on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 10 am at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA. Youre heavy on my mind today Jason, I hope your family is doing well. I often think about our senior prom together, and how we were both super awkward together. Every time I hear the song End of the Road I think of you. Sending love to your family.

I went to junior high and high school with Jason. We never talked much, but I remember playing basketball with him in junior high during P.E. He was really tall and everyone wanted him on their team. He always seemed like a nice guy, and it was very saddening to hear the news. My condolences go out to his family and close friends, who are surely missing him.

I only met Jason once, and he seemed like a sweet young man. I know how close he was to his family, especially his father Ruben. My thoughts and prayers are with the Santiago family. God bless you.

Jason, your services were beautiful. They played Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and some Beach Boys, and even the theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Your friends and family told great stories, and you were wearing your favorite hoodie. You will be missed by so many and will always be loved by all. I wish we could've spent more time together.
