James Bethune Obituary

James N. Bethune May 10, 1914 - Nov. 13, 2010 Resident of Fremont James N. Bethune, age 96, born May 10, 1914, passed away November 13, 2010 in Fremont, California. Born in Prescott, Arizona he moved to California as a teenager. Married and raised his family in Arcadia, California. He worked for 35 years as a Los Angeles County Health Inspector and retired in 1971. He and his wife, Jane, enjoyed several years traveling in their R.V. before settling in Oregon then moving to Sonora, California in 2000. Jane passed away in 2002 and James moved in with his daughter and son-in-law in Fremont, California. He was active in Centerville Presbyterian Church and Fremont Art Association. He is survived by Janice and William Lester of Fremont, Robert Bethune of Stockton, Rebecca and Shane Maibes and their three children Megan, Cole and Dustin of Tracy, Kimberly Kerbel and her children Ashley Lester and Cassandra Kerbel of Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Pathways Hospice Foundation, 585 N. Mary Ave. Sunnyvale, California 94085 www.pathshealth.org. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 10am at Centerville Presbyterian Church, 4360 Central Avenue, Fremont, California 94536. A private graveside service and burial will be held at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, California. Fremont Chapel of the Roses (510) 797-1900
