Marjorie Bieser Obituary

Marjorie F. Bieser Jan. 26, 1917 - Nov. 30, 2010 Resident of Newark Marje passed peacefully in her sleep after a brief bout of pneumonia. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Marje received her Bachelors degree from University of Hawaii, and began a teaching career there. A survivor and witness of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, her teaching career disrupted by the war, she worked in the registry office. Later Marje traveled to New York City earning her Masters degree from Columbia University. Marje continued her 35 year teaching career in Hawaii and later in San Francisco and Hayward. She received several awards and honors for her outstanding work in developmental education working with young children. Marje married Leonard Bieser in 1956, but lost him too soon in 1986. Marje was an active supporter of her church. She was very proud of her Hawaiian, Portuguese and Irish heritage. She read the newspaper everyday, was up to date on current events, and loved to discuss her views on politics. Marje will be remembered by her loving friends and family as a kind, generous, loving and very intelligent woman. She is now with her beloved Len, brothers Tom and Bob (who also passed this year), her parents and friends who wait for her in heaven. Devoted mother to Greg Bieser and his wife Dale of Aptos. Loving grandmother to Timothy and his wife Joilene, Toni, and Jennifer and her husband Scott. Doting great-grandmother to Nicole, Emily, and Allison. Dear sister to Ralph Foley and his wife Beverly of Mission, TX. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished sister-in-law of Louise Foley of Apple Valley. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2-5pm with a vigil at 3pm at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 6, 10:30am at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Avenue, Newark, 94560. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
