Walter McGlaughlin Obituary

Walter T. McGlaughlin (aka: Mac, Peach) Oct. 28, 1925 - Nov. 30, 2010 Resident of Hayward Born, 1 of 13 children, to William and Virginia of Adams County, PA. Walt received his 8th grade diploma in 1941 and began work as a fruit picker for Amos Giegly Farms until enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving his country in the Asiantic Pacific from 1945-1946. In 1946, he married and started a family with Betsy Ross Shives. In 1953, he joined the United Brother hood of Carpenters, local 1622 in Hayward, CA where he worked construction until he retired in 1987. He was The Deer Hunter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy; son, Timothy; daughter, Margo and grandson, Michael (Martin). He is survived by his son Martin (Paula), son-in-law, Allen Cowley (Margo) and 3 grandchildren, Kate Cowley, Kris Cowley-Kanach (Mike) and John Cowley. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Walt's longtime companion, Virginia Sayner and family for their care and devotion to Walt over the years. Julie Ann, Victoria, Steven, Jr., and Nicholas affectionately call ed him "Papa".
