Joan Helen Morrow

Joan Helen Morrow Bay Area Resident Following a long and heroic struggle against cancer, Joan died peacefully at home surrounded by her family and closest friends on November 20, 2010. A resident of the East Bay for more than 40 years, Joan received her B.A. from Berkeley in Sociology in 1972. She worked as a Real Estate Broker for Prudential for over 25 years. She was often seen around the campus of Mills College walking her adored German Shepherds with her partner of 37 years, Sandy Bazyouros. Joan was an avid reader and delighted in sampling all the fine restaurants the Bay Area offered. She had an indelible memory and could recount not only the restaurant, but what each person ordered for dinner, years later. She had a ready wit and her conversation was always punctuated with her clear intelligence and illuminating perceptions. More than anything, she was devoted to her partner, Sandy, and to their dogs, Titan and Syrah who were a great comfort to her in her long battle. She had countless friends who loved her and will miss her ready smile and countenance. Joan was born on June 19, 1942 in Olympia, Washington and is survived by her partner, Sandy, a sister, Linda (Marvin Leichty), brother Dennis Ransdell and nieces Amanda and Samantha.
