Ruth Rhodes Obituary

Ruth Reed Rhodes (Cates) Jan. 12, 1924 - Oct. 28, 2010 Resident of Hayward Ruth Reed Rhodes, age 86, died on Thursday October 28, 2010. She was born on January 12, 1924, in Bisbee, Arizona to the late Frank Perz, Jr. and Ruth Rhodes Perz. Ruth was an active member of All Saints Parish in Hayward, California for over 62 years. She was a member and past president of YLI and a Church Lectern. In 1987 Ruth earned her Master's Degree in English from Cal State University and taught for a number of years at Cal State University in Hayward. Ruth is survived by 5 daughters, Carolyn Hickey of Centenniel, CO; Marilyn Cates-Copeland of Falls Church, VA; Anne Sitterud of Orangeville, UT; Alice Stacey of Anchorage, AK; and Lanie Cates of Scotts Valley, CA; proud grandmother of six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her ex-husband of 29 years Stanford Eugene Cates; son Stanford Eugene Cates, Jr.; and brother Thomas Lee Perz. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the AIDS Foundation of San Francisco. Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel FD126 510-581-1234
