Frances Adams

Frances (Gonzalez) Adams 4/2/1916 12/21/2010 Resident of Hayward Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Elias Adams (1972) and her son Fernando Luis Adams (1940); her parents Inocencio Gonzalez and Benedicta Torres Gonzalez; her siblings, Damaso, Ana, Eladio, Evangelista, Irene, Victoriano, Evaristo and Nemensia. She was born in Adjuntas Puerto Rico and moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico with her family when she was a year old. She married my father in 1938 and they had two children. Fernando Luis and Alba Iris. In 1946 they came to California via plane and train from Chicago. What an adventure! They arrived in Oakland on 12/5/1946. I was born in 1948. My mom worked for Hunt's Cannery for 20 years retiring in 1972. She was a proud Teamster. She loved cooking the wonderful Puerto Rican dishes especially Pasteles at Christmas. She took pride in her garden. She had great faith in God and would say the rosary daily. She said that when she walked into All Saints Catholic Church for the first time, she felt at home because it reminded her so much of the Cathedral in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She leaves to mourn her daughters Alba I. McAdam, Frances A. Legg, grandchildren; Elisabeth A. McAdam and Robert Joseph McAdam. Her great-granddaughter Twilah Marie McAdam. She also leaves her nieces, Modesta & Gloria of Connecticut and Daisy of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Her cousin Cecilia Jimenez her friend Helen Legg and numerous other family and friends, including her family at All Saints. The family would like to thank all the angels that took care of our mother at Driftwood Healthcare. Visitation will be Mon., Jan. 3, 2011 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward. Funeral Mass will be Tues., Jan 4, 2011 at 10:30am at All Saints Catholic Church, 22824 Second Street, Hayward. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
