JoAnn Jerde Castoe Jul. 24, 1945 - Dec. 24, 2010 Resident of Fremont JoAnn left us to join her heavenly family on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2010. Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and friend. She was born in Oakland, California to Mary and Warren Jerde. JoAnn lived most of her life in Newark and Fremont, California and a brief time in South Dakota. JoAnn was a graduate of Belle Fourche High School in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. In her life she had many interests some of which included fishing, bowling, country music, Saturday night card games, and gardening. She was a volunteer on the Fremont Police Reserves for several years. Her family always enjoyed her stories from her Police experience. In her later years as her health limited her activities she became quite active on Facebook social networking. Wife of 44 years to Ken Castoe of Fremont. Loving mother to Lisa Hall and her husband Randy of Newark and Angela Farinsky of Rocklin. Beloved sister to Janet Lunde and her husband Carsten of Newark , and Mike Jerde of Chula Vista. Sister-in-law to Dianne and Chuck Castoe of Emmet, ID, and Louise Lombardo of Modesto. Grandmother to Douglas Hall of Newark, Sarah, Jessica, and Michael Farinsky of Rocklin. Aunt to Marianne Combs and her husband Darin and their children Alex and Jack of Fremont, Erik Lunde and his wife Erin of San Leandro, Fawnia Lunde of Fremont. Additional nieces and nephews include; Mandy, Michael, Roy, Tammy, Terry, and Deanna. Loving Daughter-in-law to George Castoe of Manteca. Devoted friend to many over the years. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Warren, Mother-in-law Thelma, sister Kathy, niece Shawn, and nephew Daniel. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011, 11am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536.
