Margaret Lewis Obituary

Margaret (Maggie) Lewis May 4, 1929 - Dec. 22, 2010 Long time Fremont Resident Margaret Lewis passed away peacefully on December 22, 2010 with her children and grandchildren at her bedside. Known to most as Maggie, she was born in Des Moines, Iowa and attended North High and Iowa State where she met and married Robert Lewis. Maggie and Bob settled in Fremont with their 3 children in 1960. Maggie was very active in the community through her volunteer efforts that included Washington Hospital's Pink Ladies and the PTA. She was an instructional aide during the formative years of American High School and worked for the Fremont Unified School District as a credential specialist before retiring, whereupon; Maggie and Bob traveled the world extensively. Maggie's love of music, theatre and baking was not lost on her children or grandchildren. She was a very creative soul with a knack for inspiring individualism and a spirited member of her beloved bridge group. The couple relocated to Patterson, Ca. in 2002 where Maggie continued her philanthropic efforts through a number of organizations. She will be missed and remembered for her humor, wisdom and cutting wit, she lived a full and rich life and left a lasting impression on all whom she touched with her grace and charm. Not bad for a "kid from Iowa." Maggie is survived by her children: Nancy (Gordon) Barbosa of Patterson, Scott (Concetta) Lewis of Fremont, and Krista (Curt) Perata of Fairfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Trevor Sowder of Redding; Jessica (Thomas) Fluehr of Hermosa Beach; Danelle (Katie) Perata of Scottsdale, AZ; Katie and Jacob Perata of Fairfield, and Erica and Keith Lewis of Fremont. She also leaves her brother, Lester Scoles of Greenville, SC, her sister-in-law Addie Meckstroth of Scottsdale, AZ and six nieces and nephews. We will wish her a final farewell at a gathering in the Fellowship Hall at the Federated Church at 45 S. El Circulo in Patterson on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 11:30. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
