Evelyn Schlichting Obituary

Evelyn Wilhelmina Schlichting Resident of Redwood City Evelyn Wilhelmina Schlichting, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2011 in Redwood City, California at the age of 96. Ms. Schlichting leaves behind two nieces, Meredith Doane Tizzard of Oregon and Stephanie Doane of Nevada; one grand nephew, Marc Nolan of California; second cousins, Peter Grassi, Robert Grassi and Dorothea Grassi Zopolos of California. Ms. Schlichting was born and lived in Oakland, California most of her life. She was the daughter of Marie and Hermann Schlichting (deceased) and lovingly cared for her mother Marie until she passed. She was the youngest sister of Dorothy Doane and Elsie Madsen (both deceased), to whom she was very devoted. Ms. Schlichting had many friends and was actively involved in community as a member of Children's Home Society, Oakland, California and an alumna of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, UC Berkeley. She donated generously to charitable organizations and as a lover of animals, dedicated herself to rescuing and caring for felines, especially the feral cats of Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, whom she fed and checked on daily for many years. Peter Grassi and his wife Carol, lovingly and unselfishly managed Ms. Schlichting's affairs and care since 2003. No services are planned. Memorial donations: American Cancer Society and ASPCA.
