When I heard about your death on CNN, I fell to my needs and cry out NO!, Chauncey, the response from the Bay Area, community around the world, and the media is a testament of what a horrible thing that had happen and how loved you were. I believe it is because, there are not many people who care enough to put themselves in harms way to tell the truth any more. I know first hand of your love of informing the black community and anyone else who is interested in knowning the good things black people were doing in the community along with bad things. I will never forget my first tv interview with you on Soulbeat, about the youth fashion academy I had started in West Oakland. You always look for ways to inform the community of what I was doing. You were responsible for my first of many articles in the Oakland Tribune. I will always be grateful to you, that made it possible for S.F. Chroncile, NPR, and many more to know about An Eye For Style. I can truly say it has been my pleasure to know someone so kind as you. Peace & Love to you and family.

Today, while searching for stories about the Tiger Attack Incident at the San Francisco Zoo, I came across the story about Mr. Chauncey Bailey. Before today, I was not aware of this story. I've been reading every article and report report I could find about this tragic story for thge entire day, and feel saddened and overwhelmed by the complexities relating to it. I feel deeply for Mr. Bailey's family, friends and colleagues. He clearly was an amazing person. I pray that those responsible in all quarters will be brought to justice. I will be following this story.

There are no words....
You touched my life thirty years ago and I have long admired your talent and your passion. I'm glad we had a chance to meet again a few years ago.
This is all so horrific and surreal. The world has lost a great man and I have lost someone dear to me. You will never be forgotten.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family and loved ones. May your son, Chauncey, be strong and find peace in Love that is eternal.

On behalf of the Farrell Family, I would like to send my sincere condolences to Chauncey Bailey's immediate and extended family and his mother, the dear, dear Mrs. Bridgette King. Even though I vaguely knew Mr. Bailey through his nephews and nieces, I have one good memory of him, even though he probably doesn't remember me. I was good friends with his nephews (if you guys see this, you know who I'm talking about) for a long, long time, and let me tell you, these are real, real good people. Chauncey's mom, his brothers and his sister, and in particular, those good friends of mine were the children of his sister and one of his brothers. Good, LOYAL people, and I know Chauncey embodied all those qualities that his nieces and nephews, my friends, had: trustworthy, loyal, strong, tenacity, faithful. From those days on Thermal Street to now, to my family to yours, WE TRULY LOVE ALL OF YOU, and will forever, no doubt about it. Keep being the great people and family you are and dont let this senseless tragedy disrupt your great faith. We love y'all.

I was heartbroken to learn of your passing, like losing an older brother. Chauncey, you leave behind a legacy of literacy, learning, and love. May the Lord comfort and heal your family members and the journalism colleagues whom you loved and served.

Hey Chauncey:
Now that the shock of it all is segueing from confusion to clarity, my earthly salute to you follows...
A true "newsman" to the end; through this tragedy, your efforts, your stories are now headlines around the world. God makes beauty from our ashes; as the editor of the Post, you would have inspired us locally - now, as a symbol of our strength, you will inspire us globally.
Thanks for everything you've done for me and for us, in your dedicated, committed life. You always had a sense of urgency about you, to get it out, to get it done - you were always working - was God whispering to you - do it now?
Thank you in advance for what you will now do for us in the future;
as a symbol of fearlessness, truth and pursuing the dreams placed within our hearts.
May this be a condolence to your family - that the profound sadness surrounding your death, will result in your immortality as a figure in history, which will inspire us forever with the knowledge that one person can, make a difference.
See you on the other side,
Velda

And Mr. Chauncy Bailey Sr. I admire you and as I watch you and listen to you tell your story of forgiveness for the young man who taken your dear son from you. I just want to say thank you because you have truly taught me how to forgive deep in my heart for those who has done me wrong and never look back or judge the person. just forgive in the name of the Lord, thank you Mr. Bailey for having such a forgiving heart and such a great love for the Lord your light truly shines brightly.

To my friend Chauncy It's been quite a while . . 1995
Thank you for exposing the take over of Ebenezer C.O.G.I.C there in Oakland My uncles was the Pastor
during that time no one would listen to our story not even City Officials You came / saw and printed & exposed. . . for this we are forever grateful
This Poem is Dedicated to You
. . Much Love . .
A simple reminder of things written before:
Like never settle for less, always strive for more
Fight to be gentle, loving, honest and kind
And to the small stuff don’t pay much mind
For life moves fast and fast is not always fair
But that does not mean you can’t get your share
If you are brave and strong, stand through the tests
And give God his due, your life will be blessed.
Remember to give, always, more than you take
Let love be your guiding light and never hate
Love your neighbor, but also love yourself
Find inner contentment, worth more than wealth
And be not afraid to explore the unknowns
For it is not for the timid great songs are sung
Pursue grand desires and goals and dreams
Know everything is much more than it seems.
Life is too wonderful by words to be measured
It’s greatest of gifts often too late treasured:
Soft moonlight, deep ocean, trembling thunder;
Pause, take the time, to appreciate life’s wonders
Always keep joy and hope alive in your heart
This will sustain though the whole world fall apart
Don’t forget how to sing and to laugh and to dance
When you think you can’t, chance one more chance.
Holding onto the past, you can’t travel as fast
For the answers you seek, don’t be afraid to ask
Wing your ambitions and then set them free
Don’t let anyone tell you what you can, or can’t be
Never stop moving; never ever sit down
In due season all good things will abound
Finish the race--it’s the only way you can win
And just as God does, forgive us all our sins.
It’s passed down; ain’t really nothing new
Just an unwrapped gift, from me to you
From one somehow much less of a conformer
Peace and goodwill to all ...

Chauncey, I had never heard of you before hearing about your untimely death. I've been following the stories in the News, and looking at your picture on-line almost everyday...and you look like a person that I may have met in passing. I felt compelled to sign your guest book, because I've been thinking about the incident almost everyday. I am very saddened that this has happened to you and your family. Over the years, I have lost several family members to crime in the streets of Oakland, one as recent as 2006. I pray that your family will be strong and help each other make it through these trying and tough times and know that you are in a better place now. Don't ever give up on your plight or your fight; our youth and needs as much help as they can get. I never got a chance to meet you in this lifetime...But I hope to meet you in our next lifetime. Much Love...

Chauncey was a very good man! I remember him form the days I worked at the Chamber of Commerce with retired Admiral Robert Toney. Chauncey was always the straight forward guy regardless who did not like it! He maintained his quality characteristics throughout his lifetime, and held on to his beliefs. I'll always admire him for that! Although I am now a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, I will never forget the warm individual, that would share stories with me at the Chamber events which he would frequent.
