May God bless you and bring comfort to you and your family during this very difficult time. I pray you always have Alan's memory near and that you know he is only gone in flesh and that his spirit is with you forever.

To Bennie and Family:
Allan and I e-mailed over the past few years, and unfailingly he would express concern if I wasn't taking care of my diabetes...he would describe these complicated scans and tests he was undergoing and then would brush off his discomfort and pain and quiz me on how I was feeling...what a brave and selfless soul he was...I cherish the back and forth banter about Van and remember how he sent me, unannounced, a copy of The Rainbow Theater, saying I NEEDED to have this concert forever. I'll miss you, ITGTSN! Your Friend,
Atif Davis

Bennie and all beloved surviors and dear friends--Indeed his heart was huge while his mind was a great storehouse of knowledge.Even the relatively remote and obscure (and meager) of his acquaintances, such as I, have been gifted and touched by his kindness, his honesty, and wealth of info. Knowledge matched or surpassed only by his famous, and boundless, spirit of generosity.I've never forgotten his quiet presence at Chicago Fleadh '99, though we spoke only briefly, at best. Later, when I posted about some Van issue to the list, it was Allan Gill who responded to my concern/curiosity and offered to send me a tape. I was very touched by his earnest sincerity; very exceptional. Yes, the magnitude of talent and soul that is Van's knew no better fan, but Allan was so much more than that. God bless and keep you--there can be no doubt Allan will always remain with you and give you strength til you meet again./////Cheryl

Allan was a most kind and generous man. Although we had plans to meet and opportunities to do so, it never happened. Someday it will happen my friend. In the meantime, turn it up, so you know it's got soul.

I met Allan Gill through the Internet and Van Morrison music fans, which he was very much involved with. I knew Allan for about 4 years through telephone conversations and e-mails, although I never met him face-to-face or even saw a picture of him. We initially became friends because we discovered we were among the few (four, five or six or more?) African Americans on the Van Internet lists. Our conversations were lively and went all over the place. I loved his honesty and forthrightness, and I learned a lot about Van Morrison and music in general with him. I will miss him very much.
