Dear Pat,

I just found out that Roy had passed away. I am so sorry. My Dad was a friend of Roy’s, Dick Wessling. My Dad passed away back in 1990. I was a young boy when Roy raced at 81 Speedway. You and Roy were so nice to me. I remember you asking me to go camping with you in your RV.

I am sure they are both up in Heaven talking about how the good old days of racing were.

God Bless You,

Randy Fitzsimmons

Dear Pat and Family.
We just heard about Roy's passing and wanted to let you all know how sorry we are. Thank God we were lucky enough to met all of you and to have Roy as a driver for several years. Boy did we have some wonderful times, winning the Hutch Nationals in 1978, State Fairs, lots of trips to Tulsa and such. He was a wonderful person always ready to help someone out, if needed and as far as a driver he was in a class all of his own, not many of them out there that are like that. We all have a lot of great memories and friendships that we can look back on and will never be forgotten. Roy was a very special person and will be missed be everyone. Eighty-One Speedway just won't be the same without him. God Bless all of you.

The last time I seen Roy, I told him I love him. He said I love you too. From one brother to the other. Didn't get to see Roy and Pat and rest of my family enough. We moved down to Hot Springs, Ark. I'll remember him from my heart. Ben and Medrith Bryant.

I had the pleasure of spending about 5 minutes with Roy on the frontstretch @ the Hutch Nationals as they intro'd past winners. He talked to me as an old friend. Just like I've come to know our racing family. R.I.P. Roy.

I grew up with Roy, Frank, Pinky, Walt and all the great racers that raced with my brother Bill starting at CJ's back in the fiftys. They were all like uncles to me and those were some of the best times of my life. Most of our racing heros have passed on to the big track now and all we have are the memories of these wonderful guys. May God Bless You and wrap his loving arms around you in this time of saddness.

Dear Pat & Family,
My thoughts & prayers are with you all today.
Roy was one of a kind. I loved when he would let me in the Pits, with his Mouse Car(even knowing who I was) He also spent many times at the Burn Center where my ex-husband was recoving & helped him get his body back in shape(from Roy's own experience's).
That was Roy! I hope Roy & his racing buddies are having a Hot Lap.

Pat and family,
Roy was the bravest, strongest, sweetest most compassionate man that ever fired a "flame and dirt throwing" race car. Pat and family, rejoice you had a "one in a million" in Roy. I challenge you to remain strong and continue to make him proud as be loved you so much. We share in your grief and miss him so.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
